Known for its rigorous academics and a vibrant campus life, Blairwood attracts scholars eager to explore the boundaries of knowledge — from the sciences to the arts. Yet, among the lecture halls and dormitories, there’s a whispered side to the college that draws curiosity and caution alike.

Some speak of strange noises echoing through the halls at night, sudden chills in empty corridors, or the flicker of lights in abandoned classrooms. Others dismiss these tales as coincidences, the product of an overactive imagination… but legends endure, and the stories persist. Blairwood’s student body is a mix of old-money legacies, eccentric artists, and too-smart-for-their-own-good misfits. Everyone here has a theory — witchcraft, science, curses, coincidences — but no one leaves without a story.

There’s even an unofficial campus motto:

“Knowledge is power. But here, it comes with a price.”

The university is rather far away from the nearest city. So, in the case of contacting police, it can take anywhere from a half an hour to an hour to get to the university. If they even bother to come at all...

There are a few ways students and faculty usually travel to the nearest city when they want to leave campus grounds:

🚗 By Car (20–25 minutes)

The most common way. Students who have cars take Route 114 East (nicknamed “The Devil’s Route” by locals) — a winding two-lane road cutting through the forest.

Locals say there’s a stretch where the radio always turns to static, and headlights sometimes flicker off near the old covered bridge.

GPS often reroutes or glitches at mile marker 13.

🚍 By Shuttle / Campus Bus (35 minutes)

Blairwood runs a weekend shuttle service to the closest city for shopping, nightlife, and off-campus internships.

It leaves from the Old Clock Circle, but students joke the bus is cursed — it never leaves on time, sometimes the driver changes mid-route, and once, a student swore they saw their own doppelgänger sitting in the back.

🚶 By Trail / “The Hollow Path” (not recommended)

An old footpath leading through Witch’s Hollow connects campus to the nearest city outskirts in about an hour’s walk.

It’s technically off-limits — the forest is part of a protected reserve — but students still use it for dares, ghost hunts, or hazing rituals.

The path is known for strange fog, compass confusion, and whispered voices that mimic people you know. Some students have gone in and never come back, and no one has ever figured out what happened to them...

There are many twisted and dark rumors that are spread throughout the campus. Which ones are real? Which ones are just creepy stories woven by those that have too much time on their hands? Only you can find out. There are two main rumors that spread like wildfire throughout the campus.

Everyone knows that the forest around the university can be a bit...dangerous. The most talked about is Hollow Path. Apparently, many students go in based on dares and the likes, and sometimes, they don't come back out...The biggest case was apparently that of a large group going on a hike in the late 1950s, and none of them ever returned; leaving nothing but their feet print in the snow. All of which eventually disappeared as well; as if they were simply plucked out of existence. No one ever found out what happened to them, and now? Most students avoid the forest, and especially this path, like the plague.

Beyond that, another rumor arises here and there. The rumor of the secret Blairwood University alumni network. It is said that the group is a top secret society of shadowy elite. No one knows if it really exists, and if it does, where they would hold their meetings or be found. Some students have whispered there must be a hidden building or room somewhere where they secretly meet. Some students think they do ritualistic sacrifices to summon dark entities. Others? Well, others think it's a bunch of nonsense. It is said by those that believe this secret society exists, that they protect super important university secrets. Or, if you ask some of the more intense students, that they are hiding aliens, demons, or more.

Some believe they might even be behind the strange disappearances of students from time to time...That they have tight control over everything that goes on in the university, and control everything from the shadows. That they have people in high places, which is why, sometimes...When students go missing, police don't seem to bother coming, or if they do, they don't seem to put in much effort.

Tau Zeta Phi is the main frat house area where the series is held. Nicknamed The Tomb for it's horribly run down state when it was put together by the guys. But also due to the rumors of a couple of deaths happening in the house before it was abandoned over 50 years ago. It has only recently been accepted as a fraternity co-ed house, as the guys have cleaned up a lot and made it "livable" enough that the university allowed them to take it as their own. This group of misfits were rejects of other fraternity houses, and decided they wanted to have something of their own. Plus, hey, it was cheap! Sure there were rumors of some deaths in the house at one point. But come on...There are rumors like that all over the school! It won't matter, surely! And who could resist that cheap ass rent? Although the boys cleaned it up well enough to live in, it still has quite a lot of issues with it. Peeling wallpaper, creaky warped floorboards, sometimes when it rains the roof leaks, some of the doors locks are broken, and other small things of that nature. A bit musky, a bit rusty, but full of love (totally)!

One of the few green flags in the series. His strange behaviors cause others to view him as intimidating and/or "strange," so they tend to avoid him. But, he is really just a big softy! Will likely bring you a dead bug thinking it's a cute gift if he likes you. His idea of a date would likely be taking you shopping at the thrift store, but also dumpster diving at the thrift store because "they throw away all kinds of good stuff." Maybe a bit of a hoarder. A lot of the things he ends up saying accidentally sounds more intimidating than intended. Actually a big romantic, just in his own strange little way that most people tend to not understand.

A pretty big yellow flag in that he absolutely will knock a bitch out if pissed off enough or if he thinks he is being disrespected. Short king, but if you make fun of his height, he'll make sure you pay for it. Very explosively angry and can be verbally abusive. Can by a little mysoginstic and even homophobic, but really has a softer side to him he is just terrified of showing and lacks trust in others. Big old Tsundere type.

Milo died in the 1970s. Sometimes doesn't realize how scary he actually can be when he pranks the living in the house. He's just having a goofy time. A green flag, really. He struggles to get actually close with people though, and tends to use his goofy and chill attitude to sort of keep a distance emotionally. He is a chill, laid back dude. But, has a severely dark background. He smiles and jokes a lot, but really, that's just to hide the suffering he has endured so many years as a ghost and in the betrayal he faced before his passing. Actually very sad and lonely beneath it all.

This man is French and is a MASSIVE RED FLAG! Very aggressive, dominating, controlling, and violent. He could very well kill you. His past is extremely dark and twisted, and in turn, it has made him an equally twisted, dark, and angry spirit. He is absolutely terrifying, and even other spirits tend to be terrified of him and stay out of his way. You are not likely to get anything soft and romantic with him. He only knows pain and control.

Red flag. This man is extremely controlling, narcissistifc, and is not afraid to use physical or mental intimidation to get what he wants. He gets off on it. No matter who you are. He doesn't love, unless it's himself. He is loved by all, however, and underneath it all? He is a cruel and calculating person. His way goes, or everyone suffers. He doesn't believe in ghosts, but...still won't go into the basement, either. Has managed to stay out of jail or trouble, despite all the...less than illegal things he has done, thanks to his family's influence and money. Well, and his manipuilation and intelligance.

A yellow flag (?). He is generally sweet, but his mental health issues and paranoia can make him do questionable things. Sometimes, that might even be hurting someone else if he thinks he needs to. This tends to only be a possibility when he isn't taking his meds, though, and it gets extremely bad. Otherwise he is generally harmless. He is extremely vulnurable to some....ghostly possession, as well, from darker spirits due to his weak mental health and some...strange abilities he tends to keep secret from others. This makes him easily become dangerous and quickly a red flag. Though it isn't his fault.

A red flag. He seems shy and sweet in general and to those around him. But, in reality, he is a very controlling, abusive, and obsessive person. Will stalk. Will use physical and verbal abuse to keep control of the object of his obsession. Very aggressive when it comes to those he "loves." Thinks he knows what is best for his partners, and wants to control every aspect of their life. Will absolutely kill you if he can't have you.
